DeJon Jernagin Is Coming to Stockdale High on March 18 to Make Sure You Are
By DeJon Jernagin | Director of Recruiting, CARecruits & RepMax | carecruits.org
Let me be straight with you from jump.
Every year, thousands of talented student-athletes in California — kids with real ability, real potential, and real dreams — get passed over. Not because they weren’t good enough. Not because the talent wasn’t there. They get passed over because nobody taught them how the game actually works.
That’s not a talent problem. That’s an information problem. And information problems have solutions.
I’ve lived on both sides of this equation. I competed at the professional level — I know what elite competition looks, feels, and demands like. I’ve watched the recruiting machine grind up families who came in unprepared, and I’ve watched undersized kids from overlooked towns land full scholarships because they understood the process and executed a real plan. The difference between those two outcomes isn’t always talent. It’s almost always preparation.
That’s exactly why CARecruits and RepMax are bringing the Recruiting Seminar with DeJon Jernagin to Stockdale High School on March 18, 2026 from 7PM to 9PM — and if you’ve got a student-athlete in your household, I need you in that room.
WHAT COACHES ARE ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR
Here’s something the recruiting industry doesn’t want you to know: coaches are not just evaluating athletic ability. They’re evaluating whether you’re a problem they want to take on or a solution they’ve been waiting for.
When a college coach pulls up your film, your profile, your social media — yes, your social media — he’s asking himself one question: Can I build around this kid, or will this kid break what I’m building?
Character. Coachability. Academics. Film quality. Communication habits. These are the filters that separate athletes who get offered from athletes who get ignored, even when the raw talent is comparable. The coaches who recruited me weren’t just clocking my forty time. They were watching how I carried myself. They were asking my coaches who I was when nobody was watching.
We’re going to break all of this down on March 18 — the real criteria coaches use, not the glossy version your travel coach is selling you.
THE 112-DAY RECRUITING WINDOW: THE CLOCK MOST FAMILIES DON’T KNOW IS TICKING
One of the biggest mistakes I see families make is treating recruiting like a four-year project. It’s not. There’s a concentrated window where the majority of meaningful recruiting decisions get made, and if you’re not positioned — with the right profile, the right exposure, and the right timing — you will watch it close without your name being called.
We call it the 112-Day Recruiting Window, and it is the most critical stretch of any student-athlete’s high school career. Miss it, and you’re playing catch-up for the rest of the process. Understand it, and you can use it like a weapon.
At Stockdale High on March 18, I’m going to walk you through exactly what that window looks like, how to use it strategically, and how to build the kind of visibility that gets coaches calling you — instead of you cold-emailing programs that have never heard your name.
THE MISTAKES THAT WILL COST YOUR FAMILY EVERYTHING
I’ll say it plainly: the recruiting process is full of people who profit from your confusion. Recruiting services that overpromise. Showcase circuits that collect fees and deliver nothing. Parents who spend tens of thousands of dollars on exposure events only to get radio silence from college programs.
I’ve seen it. I’ve watched families drain their savings chasing a dream that somebody sold them without ever giving them a plan.
At CARecruits, our entire brand is built on four words: We Don’t Sell Dreams. We Develop Plans. That’s not a tagline. That’s a philosophy. It’s the line I draw between what we do and what everybody else in this industry does.
On March 18, I’m going to give you the specific mistakes that derail families in this process — the communication errors, the timing errors, the profile errors, the relationship errors — and I’m going to tell you exactly how to avoid every single one of them.
WHY THIS ROOM MATTERS
I didn’t come up with somebody handing me a roadmap. I had to figure most of it out the hard way, and I watched talented people around me never figure it out at all. That used to bother me. Now I do something about it.
This seminar isn’t a sales pitch. It’s not a tryout. It’s a two-hour education that most families don’t get until it’s too late.
Student-athletes and parents are both welcome — and honestly, I’d argue parents need this information as much as their kids do. You cannot advocate for your child in a process you don’t understand. That ends March 18.
